Analysis software:
The measured spectra are analysed with the MCA-PC using the program SODIGAM. The SODIGAM program is specially developed for the high-precision analysis and nuclide quantification of spectra from scintillator detectors. It is the only program on the market which uses the physically correct peakshape for the unfolding of peak multiplets and which allows the physically correct baseline shape (Bremsstrahlung or integrated step function) to be chosen. Due to its algorithms and using the physically correct peakshape description SODIGAM can even unfold very complex multiplets. The analysis of the 133Ba multiplet with SODIGAM is given as an example of the capability of the software on the SODIGAM page. The program comes with a library containing data for all long-lived nuclides with halflives over 30 days, and other libraries containing e.g. all nuclides which are relevant in radiological applications or nuclear clinics. Special libraries with other nuclides are delivered on request at no extra cost.

The picture shows the hardware core of a modern scintillation spectrometer, i.e. the PC-based MCA plug-in card containing high voltage bias supply, preamplifier, linear amplifier, analog to digital converter and multichannel analyser system. All components and settings are controlled by software and they can be automatically set by default via batch files.
