Gamma-W [2]

An overview of GAMMA-W

Gamma-W is user or batch-file controlled by CODEWORDS with associated parameters, thus allowing for fast, effective and error-tolerant handling and operation. CODEWORDS are mnemonic instructions, similar to DOS commands. They are used as the basic elements of a highly flexible meta-language which allows the user to quickly and easily tailor analysis sequences without previous extensive instruction courses. In the user controlled operation mode the CODEWORDS are either selected from a multi-level grouped menu with on-line help facilities, or the more experienced user may type them in at the keyboard for fast and effective handling. In the batch mode, the user may define even very complex and detailed analyses of any number of spectra which Gamma-W will then automatically execute in an unattended operation. The batch-mode is the typical operational mode in industrial applications where large numbers of spectra are automatically analysed without individual supervision.

The Code includes all features required for quantitative spectrum analyses and more:

ü automatic or fully user controlled analysis of full spectrum, selected regions, individual
   or multiplet peaks
ü high resolution graphic display of fitted peaks, sum of fitted peaks, baseline and
   residuals
ü automatic peak and shoulder search at selectable sensitivity levels
ü automatic regioning of the spectrum
ü fully automatic shoulder peak detection
ü physical baseline calculated from the experimental data, or bremsstrahlung BGND
ü proper handling of external background peak contributions
ü very extensive libraries; special user-specific libraries are supplied cost-free on request
ü polynomial energy calibration as well as polynomial (degree £ 9) or intrinsic HPGe
   efficiency calibration
ü automatic FWHM calibration from the actual spectrum
ü very tolerant against input/runtime errors and improper handling
ü printout on seven levels of details of information
ü fifteen units for sample activity, e.g. Bq/kg, µCi/m3, Bq/l, ....
ü decay corrected activity calculation (decay before and during measurement)
ü internal batch file editing
ü integrated NAA package for absolute calculations (nuclear data and library included)
ü experimental self-absorption correction
ü unattended operation from batch files
ü 26 spectrum file formats (Gamma-W reads spectra from all commercial MCAs)
